Relationships are hard work!
Husbands and wives know it. Children and parents know it. Co-workers know it. Friends know it. But even with constant care, relationships can still go south.
Where Hollywood endings fail to materialize, an uncomfortable awkwardness can displace peace. The Apostle Paul addressed this when he wrote,
“Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.” (Romans 12:18)
He seems to be saying there will times when we’ve done all we can, but our efforts won’t be enough. What then? Step back and give the Author of Time the time to work.
So, whether your conflict stemmed from a misunderstanding, a recent political election, or differing world views, do all you can to live at peace with others. If that peace isn’t immediately possible, don’t lose heart. Instead, take a breather and continue to ask God to heal your strained relationship so the two of you can walk together again somewhere down the road.
I hope you enjoy the new tune!
